🥟 How to Boil Frozen Dumplings (Soft, Juicy, and Foolproof)
Perfect for:
A comforting, tender bite with juicy filling and silky wrappers. No special equipment needed—just a pot of water and some hungry people!
🧂 What You’ll Need:
-
Frozen dumplings (no thawing needed)
-
A large pot of water
-
Optional: pinch of salt or a few drops of oil (to prevent sticking)
-
Slotted spoon or strainer
-
Dipping sauce (recipe below)
👨🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Boil the Water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.
Optional: Add a pinch of salt or a splash of oil.
2. Add the Dumplings
Carefully drop in the frozen dumplings one by one to avoid sticking.
📝 Don’t overcrowd the pot—give them room to float and dance!
3. Stir Gently
Stir gently right after adding to keep them from sticking to the bottom or each other.
4. Watch for the Float
Let them boil. They’ll start to float to the top after a few minutes.
Once floating, boil for another 2–3 minutes to ensure the filling is fully cooked.
⏱️ Total boiling time is usually 6–8 minutes depending on size.
5. Check Doneness
Take one out and cut it open. The filling should be hot all the way through, with no frozen bits.
🍽️ Ready to Serve
Scoop them out with a slotted spoon and serve hot in a bowl or on a plate.
Optional: drizzle with chilli oil, soy sauce, or serve with your favourite dipping sauce.
🥣 Simple Dipping Sauce:
Mix together:
-
1 tbsp soy sauce
-
1/2 tbsp rice or black vinegar
-
A dash of sesame oil
-
Optional: minced garlic, fresh chilli, or chilli oil
đź’ˇ Tips for First-Timers:
-
If the water looks too starchy after a batch, change it before cooking the next round.
-
Dumplings are great served with soup broth, in noodle bowls, or topped with spring onions and chilli crisp.
-
Want a cold version? Boil, cool in cold water, then toss with garlic, vinegar, soy sauce and chilli oil for a dumpling salad.
